Location

Flagstone Creek State School is a small, rural school situated in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, in the west of the Lockyer Valley, Queensland, Australia. Opened in 1886, this award winning school primarily serves the areas of Flagstone Creek, Stockyard, Rockmount, Lilydale and Carpendale.

School Facilities

The main building houses the office and staffroom, a computer room and one teaching space. The other buildings, a single teaching space, a double teaching space and library are housed in separate buildings. The grounds include an oval, cricket pitch, multipurpose court, adventure playground and new covered outdoor learning area.

Ample shaded areas are provided by many large trees, covers over the adventure playground and two covered play areas.

Parent, Student and Staff Satisfaction

Results of the 2011 School Opinion Survey show that our Parents, Students and Staff all rated this school 'Significantly Above' the state average in every one of the dimensions surveyed.

Excellence Rewarded

The school has received a letter of congratulations from the Premier and Minister for Education for consistently high performance in the NAPLAN tests. The school staff have been commended for their commitment in helping students achieve high level literacy and numeracy standards. (See Documents --> Other Documents)

Flagstone Creek State School received an Excellence in Education Award from the Australian College of Educators (Darling Downs Region) for its program, Innovative School Community Learning in a Digital World. (See Documents -> Other Documents)

The school also received a $1000 development grant as part of the Queensland Government’s Regional Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools. These awards are the Queensland Government's highest accolade for state schools. The school was honoured in a special ceremony. The Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools acknowledge the innovative ways that schools build learning opportunities for students across the state. Newsflash
NAPLAN Tests 2012

Students in Years 3, 5 and 7 will participate in the annual National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) testing to assess their skills and understanding in the areas of reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) from 17 to 17 May, 2012.

 
Arts Council Performance

The next Arts Council performance will be held on Tuesday, 8 May, at 1.30pm.

 
Oval Restoration
 
Work to restore the school oval which was damaged during the flood (January, 2011) has almost been completed.
