FLAGSTONE CREEK STATE SCHOOL
Location and Characteristics
Flagstone Creek State School is a small, country school situated at the western end of the Lockyer Valley, Queensland, Australia, in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. Farming forms the basis of the community, however, a growing number of residents commute to jobs in Gatton and Toowoomba. Opened in 1886, the school originally served the Flagstone Creek area only, but now includes the areas of Stockyard, Rockmount and Carpendale where small schools have closed.
School Facilities
The school buildings are a mixture of old and new. The main building houses the office and staffroom, a computer room and one teaching space. The other buildings, a single teaching space, a double teaching space and library are housed in separate buildings. The grounds include an oval, cricket pitch, multipurpose court and adventure playground.
Ample shaded areas are provided by many large trees, covers over the adventure playground and two covered play areas.

The school has an enrolment of 34 students in two classes.

Curriculum Programs
School programs are inclusive and cater for all target groups within resource constraints. These include Religious Instruction, Music, Health and Physical Education, Swimming, LOTE (German), Library lessons and all other key learning areas.
Children with special needs are supported by the classroom teachers, visiting Learning Support Teacher, Guidance Officer and intervention programs for children identified by the Year 2 Diagnostic Net. Where appropriate, extension opportunities are provided for students by the classroom teacher.
